The regulations of the Swiss ordinance of the EDI on cosmetic products (VKos) largely coincide with those of the European Cosmetic Regulation. An example is the dynamic references of Swiss law to EU law regarding material provisions (annex lists of EU law). Nevertheless, there are differences that must be observed. These include:
- Indication of the country of origin for production in third countries is not necessary
- Warning notices must be provided in at least one official language (German/Italian/French)
- Specific requirements for the claim "made in Switzerland"
- Stricter differentiation of therapeutic products from cosmetics
- VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) steering levy upon import
