Reports Safety Gate Cosmetics April 2021

In April, the following warnings for cosmetics were issued in the EU's Safety Gate (formerly RAPEX):

• Care product
  • Possible glass particles at the bottom of the product, which could pose a risk to consumers

• Hair care product
  • Increased levels of p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), a strong sensitizing substance

In both cases, the products were recalled from the market.

These cases show that the regular examination of the chemical, physicochemical, and microbiological quality of cosmetics is essential.
