Resolution of the 118th ALS meeting: Labeling "without genetic engineering"

Resolution of the 118th ALS meeting: Labeling "without genetic engineering"

The Working Group of State and Federal Experts in Food Chemistry (ALS) addressed the labeling "without genetic engineering" in its 118th meeting.

According to this, labeling "without genetic engineering" is not possible for a food product or an ingredient if enzymes produced by genetically modified organisms are used in preparation, processing, or manufacturing. The working group refers to § 3a Abs. 5 of the EC Genetic Engineering Implementation Act.

According to the ALS decision, the label "without genetic engineering" is possible for individual ingredients in a product. For example, the statement "milk without genetic engineering" could be printed on yogurt.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct tests for genetic modifications. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
