The new guidelines for edible fats and oils have been published in the Federal Gazette. The key changes concern more detailed descriptions of terms as well as a more precise description of properties, manufacturing processes, and their detectability. For example, the manufacturing process (e.g., cold-pressed, virgin, refined) must be specified for differently produced edible fats and oils.
The revised guidelines can soon be accessed on the website of the German Food Code Commission or through the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
