Safety Gate January 2022 Cosmetics – Baby wipes with increased germ count

 

Within the EU's European rapid alert system for non-food products, products were again reported in the cosmetics sector in January 2022.

The products do not meet the requirements of the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and are being withdrawn from the market or publicly recalled.

The following quality defects led to the recall:

-        Product with Clobetasol Propionate (corticosteroid) and Hydroquinone (may cause allergies)

-        Increased germ count in wet wipes, non-compliance with ISO 17516 

-        Product containing prohibited fragrance Lyral (Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde), may cause allergies and dermatitis

-         Prevention of contamination by using suitable materials and equipment as well as
