Safety Gate Warning Notifications Cosmetics – March 2022

In March, several cosmetic products were reported again through the EU's rapid alert system Safety Gate. The affected products do not comply with the European Cosmetics Regulation Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and are being recalled or withdrawn from the market.

The recall was issued for the following deficiencies, among others:

-          Formaldehyde as a carcinogenic substance

-          Microbiological safety is not guaranteed (biofilm formation in operation)

-          Methylisothiazolinone and Methylchloroisothiazolinone as prohibited preservatives in leave-on products

-          Prohibited preservative Isobutylparaben

-          Prohibited allergenic fragrance Lyral

-          Hydroquinone as a prohibited substance in leave-on products
