Salmonella detected in turkey and poultry merguez

The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) informs about the occurrence of salmonella in turkey and poultry merguez. A health risk cannot be excluded. The FSVO recommends not consuming the affected product.

Health risk:

Salmonella are bacteria that can cause illness in humans and animals. In humans, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur within 6 to 72 hours after consumption. Individuals who have consumed the product are advised to seek medical advice if the symptoms mentioned appear.

Recommendations for consumers:

The BAV Institute offers comprehensive microbiological analyses for salmonella to support companies in the food industry in complying with legal requirements. The analyses are conducted according to §64 LFGB or ISO methods and provide reliable results for the safe control of salmonella in food.
