Self-Tanners Under Review - Öko-Test Magazine, May 2020 Issue

In the latest issue of the Öko-Test magazine from May 2020, a total of 20 self-tanning products were examined, and their ingredients analyzed. In addition to conventional products, natural cosmetics products were also tested.

Only three products received a rating of good, one product received a satisfactory rating. Of the remaining 16 products, 5 received a poor rating, while 11 were rated inadequate.

The self-tanning agent dihydroxyacetone is particularly considered a health concern, as it can release formaldehyde over time, which is classified as a Category 1 B carcinogen according to the CLP Regulation.

Regularly check the quality of your cosmetic end products and raw materials used for contaminants and residues to meet the requirements of the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.
