Shower shampoos for children in test
The protective skin mantle of children is not yet fully developed, which is why children should not be showered or bathed daily. The choice of shower shampoo also plays a role. Products with milder surfactants and without problematic fragrances are the preferred choice. Nevertheless, the question arises whether the use of these 2-in-1 products - shampoo and shower gel - burdens children's skin.
The magazine Öko-Test has dedicated its current issue to this question. A total of 24 shower shampoos for children were tested, including products from drugstores and supermarkets as well as natural cosmetics products.
The test spectrum included allergy-causing fragrances, formaldehyde/formaldehyde releasers, diethyl phthalate, halogenated organic compounds, and PEG/PEG derivatives.
Pleasingly, 15 out of 25 products received the rating very good. Four products received a good; the reason for the downgrade was synthetic polymers, PEG/PEG derivatives, or chlorinated compounds in the product packaging. A satisfactory rating was given four times. A controversial preservative was detected in one product, which is why it landed in last place with a sufficient rating.
At BAV Institute in cooperation with the Tentamus partner laboratories, we regularly carry out the aforementioned tests. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
