Shortage of infant formula in the USA: Contamination with Salmonella and Cronobacter

Recently, we reported on the warning against consuming infant formula from the brand "Abbott" in the USA. The reason for this was a possible contamination with Salmonella and Cronobacter sakazakii.

In response, Abbott partially halted the production of the infant formula and initiated a public recall of certain products. As a consequence, there is a significant supply shortage of infant formula in the USA. To counteract this shortage, substitutes are now being flown in from other countries.
