Nearly 7000 preservative challenge tests in 2018 at BAV Institute

The number 7000 will probably be reached by the end of 2018! This number of preservative efficacy tests underscores the importance of this test procedure in the development and marketing of cosmetic products as well as the reliability of the BAV Institute.

In addition to the clearly formulated regulatory requirement in the preparation of the safety report in accordance with Article 10 in conjunction with Annex I of the EU (EC) 1223/2009, preservative efficacy tests are usually also carried out in the development of new products or re-formulation of existing ones.

The BAV Institute tests according to the requirements of ISO 11930 as well as the methods of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur., Method 5.1.3). The addition of other test germs, such as Pluralibacter gergoviae (formerly Enterobacter gergoviae), is also possible.
