Stability testing of cosmetic products

Article 3 of the EU Cosmetics Regulation Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 requires that cosmetic products must be safe for consumers. This also includes sufficient stability, which is demonstrated in the safety report.

Questions regarding the stability of emulsions include, for example, whether phase separation occurs or components settle.

Accordingly, product-specific investigation parameters are determined. In addition to the storage period at the appropriate temperature, this includes chemical/chemical-physical examination (pH value, density, viscosity, acid/peroxide number) as well as descriptive sensory analysis.
