Stability testing of cosmetics at BAV Institute

Cosmetic products must be safe and stable until fully used by the consumer. Impairments such as sensory deviations, microbial growth, phase separations, degradation of active substances, and loss of preservative properties must not occur.

Proof of a product's stability is also a central component of a product's safety report, as required by the EU Cosmetics Regulation VO (EC) 1223/2009. Further specifications for conducting stability tests can be found, among others, in ISO/TR 18811 (Guidelines on the stability of cosmetic products).
