Stiftung Warentest tests natural hair dyes – banned pesticide detected

In the current March 2022 issue of the Stiftung Warentest magazine, natural hair colors are examined in detail and checked for potential residues. The tested products received ratings of good (4x) and satisfactory (2x).

The following factors led to a downgrade by one or more grades:

- possible pesticide residues, e.g., Monocrotophos (prohibited according to EU Regulation 1223/2009)

- elevated levels of heavy metals, e.g., arsenic and lead

- insufficient microbiological quality according to ISO 17516

- application tests such as color result, color retention, etc.

Let your cosmetic end products as well as the raw materials used be regularly checked for possible residues and contaminants.

The BAV Institute in the network of the international Tentamus Laboratory Group analyzes your products quickly and reliably for you.
