Stiftung Warentest: Mineral water predominantly good – PFAS and packaging in focus
The Stiftung Warentest has tested 29 medium mineral waters. Most products perform well, six even receive the rating "very good". However, nine waters only receive the rating "satisfactory". Reasons for this include residues of pesticide degradation products, substance transfers from packaging, and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), which belong to the group of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Stiftung Warentest points out that the measured levels do not pose a health risk according to current knowledge, but are an indication of unwanted environmental entries.
The results once again highlight how crucial regular analyses are to reliably monitor the quality of mineral water.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct microbiological and chemical examinations of waters - including for PFAS and TFA. We provide you with fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on all matters relating to product safety. Our customer advisors are happy to assist you with any questions.
