The second most common cause of food warnings or recalls were physically induced hazards (28%). Plastic and glass parts were common causes here. Chemical hazards ranked third. They were responsible for the recall in 35 cases (22%). The most frequently occurring cause, by far, was allergens.

Furthermore, there were 9 cases of warnings that could not be assigned to any category. The most frequent of these were caused by labeling errors and sensory deviations.
