The notifications on www.lebensmittelwarnung.de provide a good overview of issues and public recalls related to food products.
On this portal, the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) publishes warnings from food companies and authorities about food products that are hazardous to health, disgusting, or otherwise unfit for consumption.

In total, 172 warnings were published on www.lebensmittelwarnung.de in 2019. With 62 biologically related warnings (36%), biological hazards like in previous years, e.g., salmonella, EHEC/STEC/VTEC, and Listeria monocytogenes, dominated.
The second most common cause of food warnings or recalls were physically related hazards (32%). Other foreign objects were a common cause here. Chemical hazards ranked third. They were responsible for recalls in 48 cases (28%). Allergens were by far the most common cause here.
Furthermore, there were 7 cases of warnings that could not be assigned to any category. The most frequent ones were caused by labeling errors.
