TattoosinTrend-HalfofGermansconsiderTattooInksSafe
The topic of tattoos is absolutely trending and on everyone's lips. One in eight people in Germany has already gotten a tattoo. But what about health safety?
90% of all tattooed individuals in Germany believe that tattoos are absolutely safe for health. Few are aware that many tattoo inks are still unexplored. BfR President Professor Dr. Dr. Andreas Hensel says about this: “However, there is scientific evidence that color pigments from tattoos can migrate into the lymphatic system […] To comprehensively inform consumers, it is particularly important to us to continue researching the distribution and effects of the particles in the bodies of the tattooed.”
All this and much more is included in the new special issue of the Consumer Monitor on the health risks of tattoos, published by BfR. You can view the document at the following link: https://www.bfr.bund.de/cm/350/bfr-verbrauchermonitor-2018-spezial-tattoos.pdf
BAV Institute, as part of the international Tentamus Laboratory Group, analyzes tattoo inks for health-hazardous substances such as aromatic amines, heavy metals, PAHs, and microbiological contaminants (in accordance with Resolution ResAP (2008) for tattoos and permanent makeup). Contact us!
