Tightening of the Consumer Information Act - In BAV Newsletter 02/2012
The Consumer Information Act (VIG) came into effect on May 1, 2008. At that time, a review was planned to be conducted within two years. Particularly due to the dioxin incident in early 2011, some far-reaching changes were established in the revised VIG compared to the current VIG. Overall, consumer rights have been significantly strengthened and the publication of information by authorities has been made considerably easier. The Act to Amend the Law on Consumer Information was published in the Federal Law Gazette on March 21, 2012, and thus comes into force on September 1, 2012.
