Trans fatty acids – Improvement in sight? - In BAV Newsletter 04/2014
Trans fats can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Trans fats can be formed through the hardening of oils and during fat refinement, which can then be found in fried foods or pastries. The ministry, together with associations, issued guidelines for minimization. In this context, French fries, jelly doughnuts, and donuts were examined for their trans fat content. The values for French fries are pleasingly low, but there is still significant need for action in the case of pastries. (Source: www.cvuas.de)
