On 28.05.2020, the BfR published Communication No. 024/2020 on the use of disinfectants in private households, food production, and food retail during "Corona times".

"The BfR maintains its recommendations even in the current situation, that there is no need to use disinfectants with biocidal agents in private households without infected persons. Hand washing with soap and regular cleaning of surfaces and door handles with common household detergents and cleaning agents containing surfactants provide sufficient protection against the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through smear infections. If particularly sensitive persons or persons with certain pre-existing conditions live in the private household, the use of disinfectants can be sensible and necessary."
