The World Health Organization-Europe says that numbers on foodborne illnesses represent just the tip of the iceberg. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 44 people fall ill every minute from eating contaminated food.
Worldwide, an estimated more than 600 million people, almost one in ten, fell ill after consuming contaminated food in 2010. Of these, 420,000 died, including 125,000 children under the age of five.
