ICMSF Statement on SARS-CoV-2 in Relation to Food

ICMSF Statement on SARS-CoV-2 in Relation to Food

The “International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Food” (ICMSF) aims to summarize scientific findings and emphasize that there is no proven link between food and the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

There is no documented evidence that food is a significant source of SARS-CoV-2 transmission. Despite the many billions of meals and food packages consumed and handled since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is still no evidence to date that food, food packaging, or the handling of food is a source or an important transmission route for SARS-CoV-2.

Therefore, it is highly unlikely that SARS-CoV-2 poses a risk to food safety.

In our Tentamus Laboratories, we regularly conduct surface investigations for SARS-CoV-2. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
Our customer advisors are very happy to assist you with any questions.
