Pesticide residues in cosmetic products

Pesticide residues in cosmetic products

Pesticide residues are considered prohibited substances according to Annex II of the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC No 1223/2009) that should not be present in cosmetic products. Pesticide residues enter the product through contaminated plant-based raw materials.

If pesticide residues are present in trace amounts in the final cosmetic product, it must be demonstrated that these amounts are technically unavoidable and not harmful to consumer health, which is assessed by the safety assessor in the context of preparing the safety report.

Have your cosmetic products, as well as the raw materials, tested for unwanted pesticide residues. The BAV Institute and its Tentamus laboratory partners analyze using state-of-the-art analytical methods, enabling the detection of even the smallest traces of individual substances. The spectrum of the screening procedure includes more than 600 individual substances.
