Pluralibacter gergoviae in cosmetics

The microorganism Pluralibacter gergoviae (formerly known as Enterobacter gergoviae) plays an important role in the context of possible microbiological contamination of cosmetic products. This microorganism, like other potentially health-threatening germs, must not be detectable in 1g of the product (requirement of ISO 17516).

Only recently, an opinion from the BfR was published, demanding the absence of this germ.

As an accredited microbiological testing laboratory, the BAV Institute tests both cosmetic end products and raw materials for compliance with legal requirements (Regulation (EC) 1223/2009).
