Evaluation Cosmetics - Safety Gate in August 2021
In the EU rapid alert system for non-food products (Safety Gate), regulatory objections were raised for cosmetics in August.
A publication in the Safety Gate generally means a possible direct health risk, the products do not comply with the Regulation EC 1223/2009, a recall or withdrawal from the market is the consequence.
The following findings led to the mention of cosmetics in August:
- Increased content of the heavy metal mercury
- Detection of clobetasol propionate (corticosteroid) in a facial product
- Content of preservative salicylic acid significantly above the permissible limit
- Ophthalmic product with the active ingredient bimatoprost; use only under ophthalmologic supervision
Have your cosmetic end products as well as the associated raw materials regularly checked for compliance with the material specifications and for possible residues (e.g., heavy metals, pesticides, phthalates, etc.).
The BAV Institute within the network of the international Tentamus Laboratory Group supports and advises you in selecting suitable test parameters and conducts the analyses quickly and reliably for you.
