Guest Article "Optimization Attempts in Preservative Challenge Tests for Water-in-Oil (W/O) Emulsions" in EURO COSMETICS Magazine
An article on the topic "Optimization Attempts in Preservative Challenge Tests for Water-in-Oil (W/O) Emulsions" by Ms. Alison Heyer and Dr. Bernhard Fellenberg of the BAV Institute was published in the EURO COSMETICS Magazine, Issue 9-2020.
As part of a project, the impact of two different sample preparations of W/O emulsions on the results of preservative challenge tests was examined in more detail. Two inoculation methods were compared — the manual spatula method and the mechanical homogenization method using a commercial laboratory mixing system.
Background of the question: it is known that in W/O emulsions, achieving a homogeneous distribution of the aqueous test germ suspension of the product to be tested (inoculation) is generally challenging.
The result and the complete article can be found in the EURO COSMETICS Magazine No. 42, Issue 9-2020.
