Health-damaging salmonella detected in goji berries - product recall

According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), 90% of foodborne infections in recent years are due to Salmonella. As a cause of gastrointestinal diseases, Salmonella plays a significant role worldwide. Common carriers of Salmonella are primarily poultry, eggs, and pork.

Salmonella has been detected in a package of dried goji berries on sale. The manufacturer is therefore recalling the product. Consumers who have purchased the product are strongly advised not to consume it.

Further information on salmonellosis can be found in the leaflet provided by the Robert Koch Institute.
