A good working environment and corporate culture are important points even in small businesses. The working climate has a direct and indirect impact on the safety of the produced food.
What is corporate culture?
Corporate culture is the personality of a company. It manifests itself in many ways. Firstly, corporate culture is directly evident, for example, in the conversation of employees during breaks, mutual helpfulness, and mutual recognition. But also indirectly in the identification of employees with the company or in the handling of conflicts and mistakes.
It is important that a culture establishes itself in your company that positively affects the working environment and thus food safety.
How does corporate culture affect food safety?
The working environment is directly influenced by corporate culture. A poor working environment causes immediate costs due to increasing absenteeism and decreasing employee motivation. A high turnover rate is also a result of a negative working environment.
These points lead to higher error rates and employee disinterest. This has direct consequences for product safety.
Every single employee is responsible for food safety, but also all together.
A positive food safety culture, which brings food safety to the forefront of business actions through a good working environment, training, and appropriate hygiene concepts, has been enshrined in food law since March 3, 2021 (Chapter XI of the Regulation on Food Hygiene (Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004)).
