Marketability of cosmetic products
Cosmetic products are marketable in Germany and within the EU if they meet the requirements of the EU Cosmetic Regulation VO (EC) 1223/2009. They must be safe and harmless to health for the consumer. In addition to creating a safety report by a safety assessor, a product information file (PID) is also required. The PID includes a description of the cosmetic product, contains the safety report, as well as the manufacturing method in terms of good manufacturing practice (GMP). Furthermore, evidence of the claimed effects and data on animal testing are mentioned therein.
