In total, the magazine Öko-Test has taken a closer look at 18 products in its current issue. Nearly half of the products receive a good rating (seven), three other products achieve a maximum of satisfactory, and the rest receive a maximum rating of poor.
Possible residues and contaminants were examined, which are largely regulated by the European Cosmetics Regulation VO(EG) 1223/2009.
Factors leading to a downgrade include:
- Increased levels of heavy metals, particularly arsenic
- Parabens
- Use of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)
- Formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers
- Halogenated organic compounds
The BAV Institute in the network of the international Tentamus Lab Group will be happy to advise you on all questions regarding the aforementioned contaminants.
