New rapid method for testing for Legionella - within 6 hours
Legionella are germs that occur both in surface water and soil. They can also colonize artificial water systems such as air conditioning and pipe systems. Drinking water contaminated with Legionella can sometimes lead to serious illnesses.
From June onwards, we offer a rapid method for the testing of Legionella in water samples. This test is based on the Real-Time PCR method and allows a very quick statement about the detection of Legionella. We can detect low germ numbers of Legionella in a very short time. This method allows qualitative statements (positive or negative detection), but not a precise determination of colony numbers.
Advantages:
- Very fast results (within 6 hours)
- Low germ numbers are detectable
- Reliable detection method for Legionella
- Independent and flexible sampling possible
Disadvantages:
- No germ number determination possible
- No accredited procedure
- Method is not recognized according to the drinking water ordinance and is not suitable for legally required water tests
