Recall: STEC/VTEC in Salami with Venison

 

Due to the detection of STEC/VTEC, an official recall of salami with venison was initiated. The publication also took place on the website lebensmittelwarnung.de.

STEC/VTEC are potentially pathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains. The terms VTEC (verotoxin-producing E. coli) and STEC (shiga toxin-producing E. coli) are used synonymously. Infections with these strains can sometimes have serious, life-threatening consequences up to death. Pathogens that cause these diseases are known as EHEC (enterohemorrhagic E. coli). Both raw animal and plant foods are particularly affected.
