In the EU Rapid Alert System for non-safe products (Safety Gate), the following warnings were issued in the cosmetics sector in January 2021:
- Tooth whitening product
- Increased content of sodium fluoride, may cause dental fluorosis
- Nail polish
- Increased content of N-nitrosodiethanolamine (NDELA), NDELA is a potentially carcinogenic substance, prohibited according to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Confusability with food and danger from ingestion, especially in children
- Hair styling product
- Product contains cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), banned under cosmetics regulation
