In the EU Rapid Alert System for non-safe products (Safety Gate), the following warnings were issued in the cosmetics sector in January 2021:

• Tooth whitening product
  • Increased content of sodium fluoride, may cause dental fluorosis

• Nail polish
  • Increased content of N-nitrosodiethanolamine (NDELA), NDELA is a potentially carcinogenic substance, prohibited according to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009

• Shampoo and conditioner
  • Confusability with food and danger from ingestion, especially in children

• Hair styling product
  • Product contains cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), banned under cosmetics regulation
